The Ladies League came to a a thrilling finish when the final was played at Lockerbie ice rink on
Tuesday 23rd January.
Craigielands, skipped by Christine Stewart, with Tina Johnson, Elinor Lewis-Smith and Anne Hume
got off to a great start with an early lead. The Johnstone rink, skipped by Helen Bell, with Irene
Hastings, Lila Stewart and Marjorie Neill fought back but still had a bit of a mountain to climb
needing a 6 to win in the last end, however they dug deep and managed a 5 narrowly missing out on a victory, making Craigielands Curling Club the winning rink.Helen Hally presented the Trophy & prizes.

Asham under 21 Slam Winners
The last leg of the Asham Under 21 Slam was held at Lockerbie last weekend and attracted 18 teams of young curlers from all over Scotland including teams from Denmark and Latvia.
As ever the standard was very high and many spectators who came along were not disappointed. The competition is keenly sponsored by local businesses and grateful thanks go to Dryfe Veterinary Group, Henderson and Mackay, King’s Arms Hotel, C M Kirkpatrick and McJerrow & Stevenson for their continued support.
Margaret Taylor thanked Asham Curling Supplies for their continued support of the competition before inviting Jim Cullen to present the trophy and prizes to the winning men’s team of Callum Kinnear (skip) Duncan McFadzean, Ryan McCormack and Matthew McKenzie who defeated the Danish team of Henrik Holtermann, Simon Haubjerg, Jonathan Vicandt and Killan Thune.

Dumfries Rink Win………The final of the Durisdeer Trophy at Lockerbie Ice Rink last Thursday evening was contested between the Lockerbie rink, skipped by Rae Graham, with John Miller, Dougie Nairn and Pete McGarrie and the Dumfries rink skipped by Jim Hogg, with Ron McGrouther, Iain Jamieson and Alex Bryden. Rae got a good start and built up a 6-1 lead early on only for Jim to take 2 shots in the next 3 ends to take the 7-6 victory.
Richard Smith thanked the sponsors, The Queensberry Estates and Sanquhar Tile Servicesa for their continued support before inviting Jean Osbourne to present the trophy and prizes.

Winning Rink……………Andrew Robson skipped his rink of Michael Stevenson, Pam Maxon and Clem Maggiori to win the final of the W A Corrie Trophy competition over Jim Black’s rink of Anne Smith Daniel Cowan and Emily Muir at Lockerbie Ice Rink last Wednesday evening.
It was a very exciting and closely fought final which was only decided by the last stone, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats right up to the end.
Richard Smith thanked the sponsor Mrs Catherine Hardi for generously sponsoring the competition before inviting Michael Smith to present the W A Corrie trophy and prizes to the winners.

TROPHY WINNERS……………several rinks competed at Lockerbie Ice Rink last week to decide who would represent Lockerbie in the Scottish Finals of the Henderson Bishop Trophy to be held at Hamilton Ice Rink from 26th February to 1st March 2018.
Congratulations go to Moira Hastings’s rink of Anne Smith, Linda Smith and Fiona Robson who defected Ann Johnstone’s rink of Margaret Carruthers, Annette Henderson and Pam Maxon.
The competition was kindly sponsored by Glen Wright of Dryfesdale House Hotel, Lockerbie who attended the final on Thursday evening to present the trophy and prizes. Margaret Taylor, Chairman congratulated the winners and wished them every success at Hamilton.

Lockerbie Ice Rink today hosted the annual get together of the Lockerbie and Dumfries lady curlers for the Symington Cup. Playing in combined Dumfries/Lockerbie rinks the teams battled it out in a competitive but friendly spirit. The eventual winners were Janet Patterson’s rink of Irene Hastings Tracey Cairnie and Margaret Reavley The trophy was presented by Shiela Nelson, a past member of the Symington Curling Club.
